The family of Lily Owens consists of her mother and father. Her mother is Deborah and Lily calls her dad, T.Ray. Deborah and T.Ray were in love but when T.Ray had asked Deborah to marry her, Deborah refused. After all, Deborah did not want to live a farm life. But alas, she was pregnant with Lily and had to marry T.Ray. Deborah tried her best to be happy but she still became depressed. One day Deborah left Lily with a babysitter and went to meet Augusta Boatwright. After awhile, Deborah cheered up and came back to get Lily to Tiburon and finally divorce T.Ray. That day, when Deborah had dropped the gun, Lily had picked it up to give it back to her mother but she accidentally pulled the trigger and killed her mother. So she has only a father. Her father however doesn't like her and often yells at her and punishes her and thinks the worst of her. Luckily, Rosaleen is Lily's step-in-mom who takes care of her and loves her like a mother. Augusta Boatwright, June Boatwright and May Boatwright are like aunts to Lily. Augusta would be the mature, unique and favorite aunt while June would be the mean, quiet aunt who hates her niece. May Boatwright would be the timid, too nice aunt who died. And Neil would be the fun uncle.
